Friends of Genealogy, Inc. was formed in 1988 by a group of dedicated genealogists and ceased operations in 2017. During these almost 30 years, various records and articles related to Northwest Louisiana were published in The Journal (our quarterly publication), as well as books, microfilm, and CDs. These are available in the Genealogy Collection at Shreve Memorial Library (Broadmoor Branch) in Shreveport LA and in several other libraries throughout the United States.

We have held many programs and seminars through the years to educate genealogists about research techniques and available sources. With the funds received through fund raisers and donations, we have donated quite a few books and materials to the Genealogy Collection at Shreve Memorial Library.

Many dedicated members and volunteers have spent thousands of hours over the years gathering information. We hope that our efforts have helped and will continue to help future researchers in their quest as they research their family history.

We have recently donated the full collection of the Mobile (Alabama) Genealogical Society’s publications, which includes birth, marriage, mortuary, and burial records, tombstone inscriptions, will books, tax rolls, and other historical information in the Mobile area from the early 1800s through the early 1900s. This collection has been donated in memory of all our officers, members, and volunteers who have contributed so much of their time and efforts over the years.

This website is dedicated to them.
